My new 11.6-inch MacBook Air!

This took a lot of deliberation. At least I had decided on which model I would get. It would be the 11.6-inch baseline model with 2GB RAM and a 64GB Solid State Drive. But I simply couldn't make up my mind on how useful it would be to me since I already have an iPad and a fully functional (new keyboard) 13-inch Sony Vaio. I think what pushed my decision-making across the line was the fact that I had $200 in BestBuy gift cards that I could use to purchase it and the trip to Asia next month. My new Apple MacBook Air! I finally went out and bought it.

The portability of the iPad is simply awesome. I, like many others, strongly disagree with the people who refuse to call it a mobile device (no namedropping). One big reason for its portability is its battery. Apple claims it sustains 10 hours of web surfing, watching videos or listening to music and many hundred hours of standby time. I have seen it happen on my 32GB Wi-Fi only model which I use all the time. Leave it on the nightstand with 74% of battery left and wake up next morning, 8 hours later, with the battery showing 73% remaining. That's how awesome it is.

The iPad is perfect for use during the day, while on the go. For a device that lasts that long and for the tasks it can accomplish, it truly is a revolutionary device. All this is great for everyday use when you know you can plug it in 10 hours later and have it fully recharged in no time to be used again. While browsing the web for the latest tech news, I stumbled upon a MacRumors forum on a latest security flaw on the iPhone 4 (not sure if previous iPhones have the same issue). It's to do with access to one's phonebook even if the device is passcode locked.

So you bought an iPad Keyboard Dock to go with your iPad but are you getting the most out of it? I realized the whole setup was missing something. Why can't I use the iPad in landscape mode while still being able to use the keyboard dock? How practical is the 11-inch MacBook Air?

An 11-inch MacBook Air boasts portability and power packed in a nutshell. I've been contemplating getting one and have been trying to figure out how useful it would be for me. Would it replace my current laptop, my iPad, or both? A lot of self-assessment later this is what I've come up with. The decision has been made but I haven't got one quite yet.

Set Top Boxes: Google TV vs. Apple TV vs. Roku

With the release of Google TV, the set top box (STB) wars just got hotter. I've been thinking about getting a STB for a while now. When Apple announced the new Apple TV I was pretty excited. It would give me the ability to play my movies/TV shows/podcasts on my TV from the media drive. Although my Mac Mini does that now, it still needs more than just a couple of clicks and you're on. I know about Front Row but does anyone use it?

So I went out and got an Apple TV about a week after it was made available at Apple's retail stores (this was well before Google TV was announced).
